Environmental organizations such as the National Parks Conservation Association, PennFuture, the Choose Clean Water Coalition, Sierra Club Pennsylvania, and the Susquehanna River Trails Association are coming together for the second annual Susquehanna River Rally in Harrisburg. The June 9 event at Riverfront Park is intended to draw attention to the need for clean water funding as state budget negotiations begin.

With no dedicated fund for clean water and decades of cuts to the Department of Environmental Protection, the groups warn that proposed funding cuts would harm families across the commonwealth. The rally will feature food, music, prizes, guest speakers and kayaking, and will highlight how the Susquehanna River provides drinking water for six million people and drives local economies.

Partner organizations will provide boats and kayaks for attendees, who are encouraged to register for the event. Organizers hope the rally sends a strong message to lawmakers that safeguarding the health of the Susquehanna and its tributaries is essential for Pennsylvania's environment, economy and public health. They invite Pennsylvanians to join them in demanding increased investment in clean water and conservation.
