Liz Robinson is being recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award at PennFuture’s Celebrating Women in Conservation Awards for her decades of advocacy. She founded and led the Energy Coordinating Agency for 33 years, co-founded the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance and now serves as executive director of the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association.

Robinson’s career began in education and community organizing. After directing a homeless shelter she realized that high energy costs were a driving factor behind poverty and homelessness. She decided to focus on preventing those problems by promoting energy efficiency and weatherization, especially in low-income communities.

Through her leadership she has helped thousands of families cut energy bills, pushed for policies that support energy efficiency and renewable energy, and mentored countless advocates. She continues to champion solar energy in Philadelphia and urges policymakers to prioritize sustainable solutions that reduce pollution, save money and create local jobs.
