Update: Finding PA's Solar Future Project Moves Forward
The Finding Pennsylvania's Solar Future project is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Energy and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. PennFuture and partners are working with stakeholders to chart a pathway for meeting at least 10% of Pennsylvania's electricity needs with solar power by 2030.
At the third stakeholder meeting held Sept. 14 at the Inn at Villanova, more than 80 participants from the solar industry, electric utilities, government, academia and the nonprofit sector gathered in person (with others participating online) to discuss progress. Speakers highlighted scenarios for distributed and utility-scale solar development, economic and technical barriers, and the potential for job creation and environmental benefits. The project will continue to refine its modeling and policy recommendations as it builds consensus on a solar-powered future for Pennsylvania.
