Time for Solar

During an Oct. 14 bus tour hosted by PennFuture and sponsored by Levin Furniture, participants visited three homes in the Pittsburgh area showcasing solar power.

The first home was a solar passive house that maximized free energy from the sun. The second had 40 solar panels powering an electric car and future Teslas. The third had 16 roof panels providing about half of the household’s electricity. All of the homeowners were excited about reducing air pollution, increasing energy independence and taking advantage of the federal solar tax credit, which remains available through 2019.
