Pennsylvania’s 2018‑19 state budget was signed on time and includes modest increases for environmental programs. The Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources receive additional funding, and initiatives like Growing Greener and the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund see small boosts.

While these increases are a positive step, Pennsylvania still spends less per person on environmental protection than many neighboring states. PennFuture urges lawmakers to continue investing in clean air, clean water and public lands, and to strengthen agencies tasked with protecting our natural resources.
