Shifting Away from Coal Toward Renewable Energy

Our energy system is rapidly shifting toward clean energy and away from coal. Misleading rhetoric has clouded the debate, but the facts are clear: climate change is real, coal plants are closing, and cheaper, cleaner alternatives like natural gas and renewable energy are taking over.

Coal mine employment peaked decades ago and has been declining despite political promises. Renewable energy jobs already outnumber coal jobs in Pennsylvania. Instead of clinging to myths, our leaders should embrace the transition, support affected workers with training and benefits, and invest in a clean energy economy that protects public health and the climate.
