Naturally Beneficial, Protecting Water Quality and Saving Money with Riparian Buffer Ordinances
While statewide regulations provide protection for some waters and even require riparian buffers in some circumstances, gaps and loopholes in state law mean that much of this work has to be done by local governments. PennFuture's riparian buffer model municipal ordinance and guidebook is designed to give municipalities the tools they need to understand the benefits of riparian buffers and craft local regulations that leverage these benefits while balancing private property interests.
