Meet the Donor: Carl Balis

Carl Balis is a longtime supporter of PennFuture, but his environmental journey began much earlier. Born in Japan while his father was stationed overseas, he grew up in Philadelphia and Germantown and now lives in Delaware County. He says he truly became aware of environmental issues as soon as he began paying attention to the world around him.

As global events and local threats to clean air and water continued to mount, Carl felt compelled to act. He has been a dedicated donor and advocate for PennFuture because he believes that informed citizens and strong environmental laws are essential for protecting Pennsylvania’s natural heritage. By sharing his story, Carl hopes to inspire others to look around, recognize the challenges facing our environment and support organizations working for positive change.
