Fighting for Environmental Justice

State Representative Donna Bullock, who represents Pennsylvania’s 195th Legislative District in North and West Philadelphia, will receive PennFuture’s Woman of Environmental Justice Award at the Celebrating Women in Conservation event. She is being recognized for her advocacy on behalf of communities disproportionately affected by pollution and for her support of expanding green jobs.

Bullock admits that before taking office she had little engagement with environmental issues. Like many parents, she wanted her children to grow up in a healthy environment. As she came to understand how industrial pollution and lax enforcement were harming families in her district, she recognized the need to speak out for environmental justice.

Today she works to elevate the voices of residents who live near sources of pollution, pushes for policies that create clean energy jobs and protect public health, and ensures that legislators consider the health impacts of their decisions. She invites supporters to join her in celebrating women leaders at the upcoming awards ceremony.
