Pennsylvania is one of four states that lie within the Delaware River Basin. Over five million residents in 17 counties depend on the river for drinking water and the local economies along its banks, from Philadelphia to many small towns. The watershed supports millions of jobs and billions in wages in sectors like outdoor recreation, farming, water utilities and watershed organizations.

PennFuture has joined the Delaware Nature Society, Friends of the Upper Delaware, New Jersey Audubon and the National Wildlife Federation to launch the 4TheDelaware Campaign. The coalition calls on the governors of Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York and New Jersey to prioritize restoring the watershed and protecting the wildlife, jobs and public health it sustains. While bald eagles and river shad have begun to return thanks to restoration efforts, endangered species still depend on a healthy river. Supporters can join the campaign, follow @4TheDelaware on social media and visit www.4thedelaware.com to help make the Delaware River a model restored watershed.
