Tonight, PennFuture is holding the second of three watershed listening sessions in the Delaware River Basin at Fegley’s Brew Works in Bethlehem from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In October 2017, the first listening session was held in the Poconos, and the final session will be held in Philadelphia. 

We will start off the night with introductions from the PennFuture staff and acknowledgement of our new office, located in Mt. Pocono. This office services Northeastern Pennsylvania, including the Delaware River Basin. Our discussion and presentations will be led by PennFuture’s Northeast PA staff, including our Staff Attorney Abby Jones, and myself, as I serve as PennFuture’s Northeast PA Outreach Coordinator. Watershed groups, other environmental organizations, and volunteers will also have the chance to meet members of PennFuture’s Philadelphia staff, including Director of Outreach Jay Andrews, Ph.D., Southeast PA Outreach Coordinator Alex Cupo, and Staff Attorney Alice Baker. 

After introductions, a short presentation about how PennFuture can help local environmental groups and watershed organizations in the areas with outreach, policy, and legal work will occur, and then we will open the floor to attendees for input on how we can partner in the Lehigh Valley community. Attendees at this session will focus on groups placed in the counties of Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Schuylkill, Berks, and southern Monroe. 

Our goal for the Lehigh Valley watershed listening session is to learn more about different environmental organizations efforts, trials, and triumphs to address critical environmental and water quality issues in the region. PennFuture is proud to work with new partners and we look forward to contributing our expertise to the Lehigh Valley, as well as across the state of Pennsylvania.
