In addition to attending Syracuse University for two years, Marilyn also attended Allied Department Stores Management Training and Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Corporate Board Training. Having volunteered for decades as a Girl Scout troop leader, she eventually became a vital member of the Hemlock Girl Scout Council Board, serving on many committees, and eventually served two four-year terms as President.
Her valuable experience there and as a board member of the Line Mountain School District in Northumberland County, of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, and of SUN Home Health, encouraged her to help reorganize the corporate structure of the fledgling Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art in Millersburg PA. Ever since, she has been a devoted helpmate to the Center and its mission to support both the arts and our natural environment and its conservation. Her most recent work for the Center has been on the Arts and Entertainment Committee, and she was Co-Chair of the two most recent Capital Campaigns.
