PennFuture’s Legal Environmental Advocacy Fund (LEAF) Event

Since its inception in 1998, PennFuture has successfully used the law to protect Pennsylvania’s environment and create a just future where nature, communities, and the economy thrive.

Our team of attorneys, on behalf of PennFuture and its members, defend our environmental rights, offer a voice to threatened and impacted communities, and protect Pennsylvania’s environment by holding polluters, regulators, and policymakers accountable.

For over 25 years, we have achieved significant legal and policy victories that reduce pollution and protect the environment and our communities. We have provided millions of dollars in pro bono legal services while setting critical precedents and enforcing environmental laws across the Commonwealth.
In 2020, PennFuture took a bold step by consolidating our legal advocacy efforts into a dedicated Legal & Policy team. We have transformed this team from just 2 to 6 talented professionals, and their collective impact on the environmental legal landscape in Pennsylvania has been remarkable. With over 25 legal actions filed and an impressive success rate of nearly 70%, we are only just getting started. 

PennFuture is launching the Legal Environmental Advocacy Fund (LEAF) to empower our attorneys in ambitious litigation aimed at protecting the environment, communities, and the economy. This unrestricted fund will enhance our legal team's ability to respond to emerging threats and pursue essential legal actions, making a lasting impact on Pennsylvania's environment and its residents' well-being.

LEAF’S GOAL

The Legal Environmental Advocacy Fund’s goal is to raise $250,000 by the end of 2025 to take on new cases that threaten the environment and sustainable future for Pennsylvanians. 
This dedicated, unrestricted fund can be used by PennFuture for:

• Impact Litigation 
• Litigation outside geographic areas of grantors 
• Litigation outside issues of grantors 
• Expert consultation and witness 
• Legal internships and fellowships
