Indigenous Heritage Month
Indigenous communities are often on the front lines of climate change.
In the U.S., native tribes lost 99% of their historic lands and were forced onto the least desirable areas that are prone to pollution and negative impacts of climate change such as flooding, extreme heat, and loss of food sources. Indigenous people face running out of drinking water and uninhabitable land.
Native Americans’ long history tells of a people deeply connected to their environment and fierce protectors of a clean and thriving natural world.
PennFuture's Instagram and Facebook profiles highlight important Indigenous environmental activists for the first 5 days of the month.
