Energy Center Project Coordinator, DOE Sunshot project

Jim Price is the project coordinator for PennFuture's Sunshine Team, a project powered by SunShot through the U.S. Department of Energy. By collaborating with local municipal, industry, legal, and environmental partners, Jim works to lower administrative and financial barriers to new solar installations in western Pennsylvania.

    Before working at PennFuture, Price interned for one of the Sunshine Team's partner organizations, CONNECT, the Congress of Neighboring Communities, where he collaborated with municipalities and their emergency medical service (EMS) providers to raise EMS standards and increase funding. Price also worked as a teaching assistant for numerous GIS (Geospatial Information Systems) for public policy courses, and plans to use the skills honed there to benefit the Sunshine Team.

    Price earned his Master of International Development from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) at the University of Pittsburgh. His studies focused on community development and environmental sustainability. Before going to graduate school, Price worked as a community organizer and volunteer coordinator for America Votes in Cleveland. He also brings years of sales management and training experience to the Sunshine Team.

    Price discovered his love for nature and the environment while hiking and camping in numerous parts of the Rocky Mountains with his family. He worked in Yellowstone National Park, where he backpacked and hiked extensively. He has hiked and backpacked in many states including: Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, and West Virginia. He is also an avid cyclist who has worked for years as a bicycle mechanic.
